演講摘要: Publishing in journals indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) is a key goal for many scholars seeking international visibility and impact. However, the criteria and editorial practices influencing publication decisions are often unclear, especially for authors outside major academic centers. This presentation provides an insider’s view of the SSCI editorial process, based on practical experience as an Editor-in-Chief. It explains how editors assess submissions, common reasons for desk rejection, and what differentiates strong manuscripts from those unlikely to pass peer review. Focus areas include scope relevance, theoretical contribution, methodological clarity, and engagement with global scholarly debates. The talk also discusses challenges faced by researchers from non-Anglophone backgrounds and offers practical strategies for positioning research for international publication. This presentation clarifies the editorial process, helping authors understand how SSCI journals operate and improve their chances of success in the global academic system.
